How many times a year do you need your gutters cleaned?

Most homes should have their gutters cleaned at least twice a year—that’s the general rule.
The typical schedule
Once in late spring – clears out blossoms, seeds, and spring debris
Once in autumn – removes fallen leaves before winter clogs and freezes set in
When you might need it more often
You’ll want to clean them 3–4 times a year if:
You have lots of nearby trees (especially pine or oak)
Your gutters clog easily or overflow during rain
You’ve noticed plants growing in them (it happens more than you’d think)
You live somewhere with frequent storms or heavy debris
When you might get away with less
If you have gutter guards installed
Or very few trees around your home
Even then, at least once a year is still recommended to check for build up and damage.
Quick reality check
If water spills over the sides when it rains, they’re already overdue—no schedule needed, just action.
If you want, tell me your setup (trees, house type, gutter guards), and I can give you a more precise schedule.
